Das kontrapostische Motiv der Gliedmaßen mit dem erhobenen linken Arm läßt sich auf Darstellungen von Eroten in dem in der Renaissance häufig rezipierten Relief vom Thron des Saturn aus Ravenna (Venedig, Museo Archeologico) zurückführen. Die Bewegung von Rumpf, Armen und Beinen verleiht dem Bronzeputto einen geradezu modellhaften Charakter. Es ist daher anzunehmen, daß die Statuette anderen Künstlern zu Studienzwecken diente.
